This summer’s exciting shoe- slippers trends seen on the latest runways in Paris, London, New York and Milan are interesting and mostly already a spring hit.
One of the trends is ‘Breathable Footwear’, which boasts slippers and shoes with open mesh creation and designs with holes for air circulation. Of course new models of the well known Crocs are prevalent while Salvatore Ferragamo showed a monochromatic color trend on breathable shoes. Dolce & Gabbana stole the show with black lace sock boots, looking fantastic.
Another trend, dethroning previously fashionable flip-flops, is what we like to call ‘Funky Comfort Sliders’. Although they’re steadily gaining in popularity. it’s yet unknown to reach the viral levels that flip-flops showed in the ’90s. These flats which were introduced this spring with a laid back presentation are getting their fantasy sequins and floral design makeover for summer. The usual suspects like Prada, Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana and Miu Miu are all in the game and I must say that some have done an incredible job of creating super comfortable and good looking sliders which are sure to get attention.
We were happy to see the strong return of ‘Platforms’ interpreted in many different ways, while adding varying heights to many shoes appearing on the runways. Erdem rocks some snakeskin with ankle lacing combination with fabulous platform heels while Miu Miu, Salvatore Ferragamo and definitely Proenza Schouler did a lovely job adopting this proven popular shoe style.
Finally we see ‘Flats with a Twist’ with flatform heels and soles combinations that took over the spring 2017 shoe trends throughout the Fashion Weeks. Many shoe/ fashion brands like Gucci and Balmain went all out with their creativity on these lines with quirky embellishments. Oriental style ankle straps and glitter and crazy prints are all the hype.
It’s going to be a hot summer and these new designs are a welcome breath of fresh air bringing bright summery colors and the needed comfort to wind down.
We are ready, how about you?
